Exhibition cum Awareness programme on “Tuber Crops: Future smart crops” in West Khasi Hills under AICRP on Tuber Crops.

An Exhibition cum Awareness programme on “Tuber Crops : Future smart crops was conducted on the 31st January 2019 at Mairang West Khasi Hills under All India Coordinated Research Project on Tuber Crops, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, West Khasi Hills with an aim for the farmers to have an exposures to varieties of tuber crops, to show case their crops, to learn from one another and to interact with experts on various issues related to tuber crop production. About 100 farmers from Mawkamoit, Lumsohkhlur, Nongrmai, Umthied Bynther, Pyndenumiong, Nonglipud, Pyrda Thymmai, Mairang Mission and Mawthohbeh villages of West Khasi Hills districts of Meghalaya participated in the programme and prizes were distributed to the farmers with the best exhibits. The programme was coordinated by Dr. H.D. Talang (Scientist-Horticulture), Dr. H. Rymbai (Scientist-Horticulture), Dr. M. Bilashini Devi (Scientist-Horticulture), Shri Priyajit Chaudhuri (Project Assitant-Horticulture), ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam and Dr. Dodo Pasweth (Senior Scientist and Head), Smt. Yvonne Sohtun (SMS-Horticulture), Smt. Itirechil (SMS-Pathology), Shri Rudolf Pakyntein (SMS-Fishery), Dr. Jeremy Wahlang (SMS-Animal Science), KVK, West Khasi Hills.
